本報告的目的：
本報告的目的是要透過案例通報告知公眾有關使用精油後的不良效果，以致能夠更深入了解不安全使用後的影響。
本報告是：
本報告是由直接受到精油影響人士的經驗，又或直接觀察使用單方∕複方精油後不適人士的總結。並由以上人士完成報告。總結報告(以下)旨在向讀者提供通報個案的綜合觀。查看此表格後，請單擊鏈結以轉到提供額外資料的原始數據收集報告，如使用數量和額外獨立證供。
研究方法：
「純粹的現象學研究以尋找本質上的描述而不是作出解釋，由一個任意假設或沒有偏見的觀點開始(胡塞爾 1970)。」這個過程沒有前設或偏見，隨著數據的增長，模式就會出現。第一個報告有34份。這份報告包含剛才提及的34份已接近50份多。
資料的收集方法：
資料由經歷該事件的人，或直接觀察使用單方∕複方精油的人以匿名報告格式輸入。所有人均以電郵、全名∕首字母確定為認可人士。所有資料都直接由報告中剪下和貼上到原始數據報告中，當中沒有經過任何修改，這是一份總結。
未包括的報告：
有6份沒有包括在本報告內：3份使用了精油，但沒有不良影響；1份使用了好幾種產品當中包含特殊的精油，2份是道聽途說並沒有目擊事件經過。
